EPS is bringing a range of benefits for patients and healthcare professionals as it is rolled out across Wales, including:

• Patients will no longer have to attend surgery to collect a prescription form. Instead, they will be able to say to their GP which pharmacy they would like to dispense their medicines and the prescription will be sent there electronically. This saves time and means the patient won’t lose a paper form.
• GPs and other prescribers will be able to sign prescriptions digitally which will be more efficient, freeing up time for patient care.
• Dispensers such as pharmacists will reduce their use of paper and provide a more efficient service to patients.
• EPS means safer management of repeat medication and greater security around data.
